Read the numbers under each box as low E to high e. An x means do not play that string, 0 means play it open. Shapes are ranked by how playable they are, not by how far up the neck they sit.

Tap where your fingers are. The high e string is the top row, the way the neck looks when you glance down at it. Tap the same spot again to lift that finger off.
